Snowmaking – water and air ... nothing else!

Snowmaking installations basically consist of one water intake point in a body of flowing water or a pond, pipes and connecting points laid underground, a pumping station and, of course, the snowmaking machines.

Snowmaking functions according to a physical principle, whereby water is sprayed in nozzles to tiniest drops.

In the short time between leaving the nozzle and touching the ground, snow crystals are formed. No chemical substances are needed or used for snowmaking. From 1 m³ of water approximately 2.5 m³ of snow can be produced.

Snowmaking for skiing slopes
- serves for balancing differences in the height of snow during the season
- ensures the possibility of skiing slopes close to the valley as well as the main slopes
- covers points with relatively little snow such as knolls, edges, sunny hills and entering points
- increases the safety for skiers through consistently good snow quality

Sufficient snow cover protects the vegetation layer from frost and changing frost, avoiding freeze out and erosions. Sufficient snow ensures protection from damage to the flora by skiers and groomers. Snowmaking installations ensure the international attractiveness and competitiveness of our ski areas and, as a result, the income of entire regions of tourism.
